Auckland Zoo

Hello,
Let me tell you something about the Auckland zoo this time. It is one of the most interesting places to visit in Auckland city.
You can see animals and birds like the zebra, sea lion, penguin, kiwi, giraffe and the ostrich. The birds are kept in an aviary. Some of the animals, like the sea lions, perform gymnastics and various kinds of tricks.
The kiwi is a bird that does not fly. Since it is a nocturnal bird, it is kept in a dark glass house. You will find giraffes moving happily with the zebras and the ostriches. As hippopotamuses like to stay in muddy puddles, the zoo has provided them with puddles.
The animals, especially the elephants, lions, tigers and monkeys are provided with ropes, tyres, old tins, hammer, etc to entertain themselves. It is quite common to see a monkey hammering a nail.
The zoo also has a typical Zulu hut equipped with vessels, clothes, etc so that people know how a typical Zulu family lives.
The zoo is given a different look every few weeks - almost like the way we paint our houses from time to time!
You can visit the zoo any day between 10.30am and 5.00pm.

Open Zoo

The animals in the zoo are not kept in cages or traps, but are allowed to roam around freely in a safe and well protected area. They are lovingly cared for. The zoo authorities take care of the animals just as we would take care of our children. The animals are kept in a habitat they are familiar with, so that they feel at home. The zoo is kept very clean. All get fresh food, as the serving of stale food is prohibited by the government.

It's Not there!

There are no snakes in New Zealand , so you will not find snakes in the zoo.

Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
